Meerut: 3 wanted criminals captured by Delhi police after shootout

Delhi police nabbed three wanted criminals after they opened fire on the police force on Thursday in Meerut area and seized their car and other ammunitions

The Delhi police have nabbed three wanted criminals after they opened fire on the police force on Thursday in the Meerut area. All three criminals were injured during the encounter and captured by the Delhi police. According to the Superintendent of Police (SP) City, Akhilesh Narayan Singh, a special cell of the Delhi police team was aware of the three criminals being in the Meerut area. The Joint team of Crime Branch and the Special Cell tried to stop their car, but they opened fire on the police, he added. 

Police nabs criminals 

According to reports, the three accused criminals - Saddam, Dilip and Usman have been involved in several serious crimes in the past. They have several cases registered against them in the Pratapur police station and other police stations as well in the city. According to Singh, the criminals, upon interrogation revealed that several cases have been registered under the accused, Saddam, alone. Singh also said that the interrogation revealed that Saddam had been accused under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) in New Delhi. According to further reports, the police have recovered the accuseds' car, a pistol, and two country-made revolvers along with live rounds of ammunition in huge quantity from the accused. It has been revealed that once the criminals are discharged from the hospital, they will be taken into custody for further investigation and questioning.

Other incidents

Earlier on September 22, an encounter broke out between the Delhi Police and four unidentified assailants outside Akshardham Temple in Delhi. According to reports, the four unidentified persons opened fire at a police team when they were asked to stop for checking. As the criminals opened fire, the police fired one round in retaliation. No injuries were reported, however, the criminals had managed to escape. In another incident, the Delhi police arrested two armed killers as Delhi witnessed its third encounter in the first week of October. According to reports, the third shooting incident had taken place in the Shahdara area of East Delhi.
