On Saturday, the unsung heroes of our country, who have made India proud in their respective fields, will be honoured by Republic TV in the special broadcast of 'Proud to be Indian' as the nation celebrated its 70th Republic Day.
Sports is one of the most integral part of any country, and India's sports minister, Col Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, recognized this fact and conducted the inaugural Khelo India Youth Games in December 2018-January 2019. It was from this very event that the nation found its next sporting hero - Abhinav Shaw.
Despite just being 10 years old, Abhinav rose above his age and created history in the recently concluded tournament. He became the youngest ever Gold medalist after coming on top in the U-21 10m Air Rifle mixed category. Abhinav punched above his weight as he stunned the superpowers to make his name in the sport.
At the age of 6, he stepped foot in the sport with the backing of his father, and since then, has never looked back. His father had intended to become a shooter himself, but couldn't due to financial restrains, reveals Abhinav.
Much like others in the sport of shooting, he idolizes and follows Abhinav Bindra, the 2008 Olympics Gold medalist. Just like his predecessor, Abhinav (Shaw) intends to win a Gold medal for his country at the Olympics.
While shooting has been ingrained in him since the age of 6, his interest's doesn't restrict him to just one sport. Abhinav also likes cricket, football, and is also a big an of MS Dhoni.
You can catch the full story of Abhinav Shaw in the special broadcast of 'Proud to be Indian' on Republic TV on Saturday
