MP tehsildar held by Lokayukta police for bribery

A Madhya Pradesh Revenue department official was caught on Saturday by Lokayukta police in Panna district for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe from a brick kiln owner, an official said.

Gunnaur tehsildar Ravishankar Shukla had demanded Rs 35,000 from brick kiln owner Brijbihari Prajapati for release of the latter's seized tractor-trolley, said Lokayukta Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajesh Khede.

"The complainant paid Rs 10,000 earlier. Shukla was caught while accepting Rs 25,000 at his residence on Saturday. He has been charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act," the Dy SP informed.
