Multiple ceasefire violations by Pakistan along LoC even as Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visits J&K to pay Kargil War Memorial tribute

In a major development, Pakistan violated ceasefire in two districts along the Line of Control (LOC) - one at the Rajouri sector of Nowshera district in Jammu and Kashmir and the other at the sector in the Poonch district of Kashmir.

In a major development, Pakistan violated ceasefire in two districts along the Line of Control (LOC) - one at the Rajouri sector of Nowshera district in Jammu and Kashmir and the other at the sector in the Poonch district of Kashmir. In what is seen as provocation by the Pakistani side, the ceasefire at two different places in the two different districts. Sources informed that the Pakistani side is targeting the civilian areas along the line of control and ceasefire violations are on the forward position.

This comes even as Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is on a day-long visit to JAmmu and Kashmir. Ahead of his visit, officials said that the Defence minister will pay tributes at the Kargil war memorial at Drass and inaugurate two bridge projects in Jammu.  “The Defence Minister will visit all three regions of Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh during the visit and review the security situation along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Valley and the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh, besides hinterland operations,” the officials added.

The defence minister took to Twitter and informed about the visit to Jammu and Kashmir. He said that he will fly from New Delhi to Srinagar, adding that he will be accompanied by Army Chief General Bipin Rawat. The Defence Minister also said that he will fly to Drass in Ladakh where he is scheduled to visit the war memorial.From there, he is scheduled to fly to Jammu, where he will inaugurate two major bridges on the rivers Uhj and Basantar in Kathua and Samba districts. Meanwhile, he posted a picture at the Kargil War Memorial in Drass.
