Mumbai Police Asks Republic TV To Share Details Of Papon

In a huge impact of Republic TV reportage, a senior IPS police officer of Mumbai police has asked Republic TV's team to share details of Papon including his whereabouts, contact numbers and other details. Mumbai police is also going through the viral clip of Papon, where he can be seen molesting a minor girl. The police might also call the singer to record his statement.

Police will also record the statement of the victim and of the people who were present at the spot at the time of the offense.

The Maharashtra state Women's commission has also taken cognizance of Papon's case. They said that they will issue notice to the producers of reality show to ask what precautions were taken to safeguard children.

Earlier in the day, the Maharashtra government has taken cognizance of Republic TV's news report on Papon. The government has ordered probe in the Papon video in which he can be seen allegedly sexually assaulting a minor.

MoS Women & Child Welfare department, Vidya Thakur also spoke to Republic TV over phone and said that the Mumbai Police has been ordered to investigate the matter. Thakur said that the the video of Papon is very shocking and that was not an act of fatherly affection.

 

“It was not an act of fatherly affection. No father in this world behaves with her daughter like this,” said Thakur.

 

She also said that she has spoken to the Mumbai Commissioner of Police and asked him to investigate the matter, assuring that after investigation “stringent action will be taken against Papon.”

The MoS said that the Maharashtra government will extend full support to the girl’s family.

 

“If any body is trying to put pressure on girl or her family then we will not spare them. Maharashtra government will give full support to the family. We are with her and her father,” she said.

Meanwhile, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has asked Maharashtra police to investigate singer Papon case and ensure necessary action is taken. The body also asked Maharashtra police to submit the enquiry report within 7 days.

After a massive outrage over the singer's video, Papon finally broke his silence on his alleged sexual assault on a minor girl. In his statement, Papon wrote, “Anyone who knows me would be aware that I am an extremely affectional and expressive person” and goes on to claim that “To show affection for an 11 year old child who I have been mentoring for a while now is not an alien concept for me”.

The alleged criminal act has been caught on video and has gone viral online. In the video, Papon can be seen kissing a minor girl who is believed to be a contestant of the show ‘The Voice India Kids’ which is being mentored by the singer. The video was originally posted on Papon’s official Facebook page on February 20.
