An Oman Air flight from Mumbai to Muscat made an emergency landing, safely at the Mumbai Airport on Wednesday with over 200 passengers on board. The incident took place at around 4:42 pm after an engine failure shortly after take-off of the flight.
As per sources, the flight Flight WY204 landed safely at around 5 pm at the airport. Amid the incident, a full emergency was declared at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport as the Oman Air flight returned and safely landed with all passengers onboard.
Meanwhile, several flights are delayed or diverted and a number of the flights have been cancelled at the Mumbai airport owing to heavy rainfall in the city over the three days.
Earlier on June 27, a United States-bound Air India flight from Mumbai made a precautionary landing at London's Stansted Airport. The emergency landing took place as a result of a bomb scare, which forced the Royal Air Force (RAF) to scramble its fighter jets to escort the flight.
As per reports, the Typhoon jets were called in to escort the Flight AI 191 at around 09.50 am local time. However, the bomb scare turned out to be a hoax.
"AI 191 Mumbai-Newark of June 27 has made a precautionary landing at London's Stansted airport due to a bomb threat," Air India said in its statement.
Furthermore, all 327 passengers were deplaned safely from the flight and the Boeing 777-300ER plane remained grounded at the Stansted Airport.
In another incident, a Guwahati-bound flight from Hyderabad made an emergency landing at the Biju Patnaik International Airport on Sunday after a passenger allegedly indulged in unruly behavior on board.
The IndiGo flight from Hyderabad to Guwahati landed in Bhubaneswar after it was diverted under the emergency protocol. The 20-year-old Irshad Ali was deplaned and handed over to the airport police, officials at the airport said.
