A naphthalene ball was found in a food container in a state-run hospital in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur district in a check after a patient started vomiting following a meal, an official said on Saturday.

A team of four doctors will probe the incident at Victoria Hospital, the official added. "A patient Ratanlal Nagesh complained of vomiting after having his meal on Thursday evening. A check revealed a naphthalene ball in a container storing a vegetable dish," said Ajay Kureel, media officer of the Victoria Hospital.

Omti police station has taken a case under section 284 (negligent conduct with respect to poisonous substance) of the Indian Penal Code against an unknown person, Kureel said.
