National Gallery of Modern Art to organise an auction of mementos received by PM Narendra Modi, details inside

The National Gallery of Modern Art which is situated in New Delhi is looking to organise an auction of prestigious gifts received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Not only that, but the amount raised through this auction will be utilised for a great cause.

The National Gallery of Modern Art which is situated in New Delhi is looking to organise an auction of prestigious gifts received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. With the support of Ministry of Culture, it will present a collection of all precious mementos offered to the PM from all across the country. Not only that, but the amount raised through this auction will be utilised for a great cause.

The funds raised through this event will be put into the 'Namami Gange' project. The project is an Integrated Conservation Mission, approved by the Union Government in June 2014 to accomplish the twin objectives of effective abatement of pollution, conservation and rejuvenation of National River Ganga. 

The auction itself has been divided into two parts- the physical auction and the e-auction. The former will take place on 27th and 28th January at The National Gallery of Modern Art in the national capital from 12:00 pm onwards. The latter will be held on 29th to 31st January and will have all those items which were not sold in the physical auction. The portal where the event will take place is called www.pmmementos.gov.in.

At the moment, there are up to 1900 such articles on display the Modern Art gallery in New Delhi. The mementos include articles such as paintings, sculptures, shawls, Pagris, Jackets, traditional musical instruments among many other things. Currently, the items that are up for auction can be viewed at the above-mentioned portal.
