Army chief Bipin Rawat has clarified that there was no intrusion by the Chinese troops in Demchok sector. He said that Chinese troops came to see the celebrations which were going on in the Demchok sector. He also spoke about the situation at the Line Of Actual Control which caused speculations of Chinese incursion.
He explained the situation at the Line of Actual Control and why every movement by the Chinese troops cannot be perceived as an incursion.
"Repeatedly, we all understand there are perceptions on the Line of Actual Control. They have their perception of the LAC we have our perception of LAC. There are gaps in between so both sides patrol and come into each others areas. There is no intrusion. Chinese come and patrol on their perceived LAC which we prevent.
"At times there are some celebrations going on at local level. Celebrations were going on our side at Demchok area. Chinese troops came to see. But there was no intrusion, everything is normal. What was happening we need to dispel this myth that there was an intrusion by Chinese which will be detrimental to our security. I think we have a very good working relationship with the Chinese. Anytime any such things happen, we have local commanders talking to each other. We are meeting regularly," he said.
Meanwhile, Congress has taken the opportunity to fearmonger over the issue. Randeep Surjewala, Congress spokesperson, wrote on Twitter accusing the BJP government of having a listless attitude about national security.
