No helmet? No fuel: Two-wheeler riders without helmet will not get fuel at Noida filling stations from June 1

Noida district administration on Tuesday announced that starting June 1, two-wheeler riders without helmets will not get fuel at filling stations in Noida and Greater Noida. This step comes as a major bid to promote road safety.

Holding a meeting with owners of the filling stations, District Magistrate Brajesh Narain Singh said the order must be implemented in the two cities and later it would also be rolled out in rural areas of Gautam Buddh Nagar.

Earlier, Delhi Police stepped up their game to spread awareness about traffic safety, and safe driving practices. Kicking off National Road Safety Week, 2019, the Delhi Police launched a campaign which involved holding a mirror to the society. Quite literally.

A video, which was posted on the official handle of the police department, showed a cop in a helmet holding a mirror along with several other placards. The purpose of the officer was to encourage two-wheelers riders to wear helmets.

The video garnered 1,066 Retweets and 3,339 Likes. The video encouraged people to reflect upon their behaviour and giver priority to road safety. While many praised the Delhi traffic police for their creative idea, others wondered if such an initiative would encourage people to follow traffic rules.
