NSA Ajit Doval, Home Minister Rajnath Singh brief PM Narendra Modi on Pulwama encounter

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been briefed by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Home Minister Rajnath Singh on the encounter against terrorist in Pulwama, on Monday, sources said. There is a daily 20-minute briefing by the NSA to PM Modi but on Monday the Prime Minister was briefed over the extraordinary circumstances in Pulwama.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been briefed by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Home Minister Rajnath Singh on the encounter against terrorists in Pulwama, on Monday, sources said.

There is a daily 20-minute briefing by the NSA to PM Modi but on Monday the Prime Minister was briefed over the extraordinary circumstances in Pulwama. 

Earlier today, there was a high-powered meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs took place where PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh were present along with several high level officials.

The meeting began place at around 9:30 am when PM Modi reached the Prime Minister's Office. 

Home Secretary, additional secretary Jammu and Kashmir, were among the several officials who were present at the meeting.

The PM was briefed on the encounter by the forces in Pulwama.

The officials also discussed methods to prevent future Pulwama like attacks. They also discussed terrorist group using the social media, as well measures for loopholes in border security.

A gun battle had been underway in Jammu and Kashmir's Pinglan area in Pulwama district between security forces and terrorists since 1.00 am on Monday. 

The area has been under cordon and two-three Jaish terrorists were believed to be trapped, as per reports. 

In a big win for the forces, two Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists were gunned down by them. One Major and three Army jawans martyred during the encounter between security forces and terrorists. 

The encounter has come in less than a week after one of the deadliest terror attack orchestrated by the JeM in Pulwama's Awantipora area where 40 CRPF jawans were killed. On February 14, at least 40 CRPF personnel were killed after a vehicle laden with explosives rammed an explosive-laden car into a vehicle in the CRPF convoy in Pulwama district.

Several countries from across the globe stood in support of India in the wake of a deadly terror attack.

In the aftermath of the Pulwama terror attack, India also revoked the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status that was unilaterally accorded to Pakistan over 20 years ago. The government of India also resolved to isolate Pakistan on the global stage.
