Raksha Mantri Nirmala Sitharaman during an interview with Republic TV's Editor-In-Chief Arnab Goswami said that she is worried if Congress is being used by corporates in their rivalry. She also said that Congress president Rahul Gandhi must be asked about claims made by AgustaWestland middleman to the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of India.

She was responding to Republic TV's question on whether she thinks Congress is pursuing a commercial interest and not just a political interest while attacking the Centre on Rafale deal, and whether the party is pursuing Eurofighter.

"One thing I believe is this it is worthy of being asked of the Congress president (Rahul Gandhi) that what exactly is this which is being claimed by this man (Christian Michel) who has come being questioned on corrupt practice is on Agusta Westland.

The media has said that he kept records of what was happening in the PMO and government then and that he was here also to take care of the competitor of Rafale and I wonder now  - Is not the business of Indian media to ask if there was a connection.  What was the role of Congress party and the Congress party establishment in the government and the government's role in the dealing with this man.

I am very worried if Congress party unwittingly, and I am using the word unwittingly consciously, is being used by corporates, by MNCs in their rivalry. Is the Congress party getting into corporate rivalry? How can you (Congress) constantly not answer the question  - Why did you not sign the (Rafale) agreement?

I have answered in several fora and above all the sacred forum of our democracy, the parliament. So I ask the media to please ask Rahul Gandhi to show proof on all allegations on Rafale deal
