#MeToo : BCCI demands for Rahul Johri's explanation on sexual harassment allegations against him

BCCI has asked Rahul Johri to submit his explanation within a week over the sexual harassment allegations made against him

Moments after BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) CEO Rahul Johri was accused of sexual harassment by an anonymous journalist, the administrative body at BCCI has taken up serious cognizance in the case, issuing an ultimatum to Rahul Johri for his explanation about the charges against him. Committee of Administrators of the BCCI on Saturday has asked Rahul Johri to submit his explanation within a week over the sexual harassment allegations made against him.

Furthermore, if Rahul Johri fails to submit a satisfactory reply in the matter, then he might have to give up his post as the CEO of BCCI.

Earlier on Saturday, the woman had accused Rahul Johri of taking advantage of her when they met over coffee to discuss some job prospects with her. While the woman has kept her identity secret, she has said that ‘Johri took her to his place when his wife and child was not home and forcibly assaulted her’.

"I was shaking throughout after, not capable of even understanding what had just happened. How did I make it happen, I asked myself repeatedly! He kept shaking his head, smiling and telling me- you're good!", reads her post.

With so many women speaking up against the sexual harassment they faced from prominent personalities of the industry, the #MeToo movement taking huge momentum in India. Women are taking it to their social media profiles to tell their stories to the world. This is the beginning of a new revolution in India. 

Several known names from the entertainment industry have been named and shamed. The movement which started on social media has left no stone unturned in outing all those who have harassed others. Several Bollywood celebrities have spoken out in support of the victims of sexual misconduct. From Priyanka Chopra, Varun Dhawan, Anushka Sharma, Twinkle Khanna, Sonam Kapoor, Swara  Bhasker, Sophie Choudry, to Farhan Akhtar, all have been supportive and raised their voice against the issue.
