Omar Abdullah questions J&K government over ban on civilian traffic on Jammu-Srinagar highway, calls it 'mindless' order

Amid the ongoing ban all on the civilian vehicles from Jammu-Srinagar highway, National Conference leader and former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah questioned the government over the decision. leader Omar Abdullah on Monday said that those banning the highway has ‘no application of mind’.
In a couple of tweets, Omar Abdullah shared two videos called it a 'mindless' order. In the tweet, he shared a video in which security forces' convoy can be seen moving on Monday amidst civilian traffic.
Sharing another video in the second tweet, the NC leader emphasized that if security force convoys could ply on the same road on other days of the week, ‘why are they not safe on Wednesday and Sundays’.
In the aftermath of the February 14 Pulwama terror attack in which 40 CRPF personnel were martyred, the Jammu and Kashmir government on first week of April banned all civilian vehicles from plying on the national highway from Udhampur to Baramulla via Srinagar on Sundays and Wednesdays till May 31. This was done in order to facilitate safe movement of security forces' convoys moved around for election duty in the state.
The government order reads:
“During these days, no civilian traffic would be allowed on the National Highway. To mitigate the inconvenience to civilians by this move, the government has notified two dedicated days in a week (Sunday & Wednesday) exclusively for the movement of Security Forces Convoys and there would be a complete ban on civilian traffic on the National Highway during these two days from 4 am to 5 pm."
