On Independence Day, Airlines felicitate flying jawans

On the occasion of India's 72nd Independence Day, the jawans of the country were felicitated by three airlines at the Jammu Airport

On the occasion of India's 72nd Independence Day, the jawans of the country were felicitated by three airlines at the Jammu Airport. Air India, GoAir and Indigo paid tributes to the soldiers of India by distributing sweets and giving them a huge round of applause.

At Jammu Airport, CAPF personnel, awaiting their flight, were felicitated and honored by the three airlines. GoAir distributed sweets amongst the jawans, whereas Indigo decided to distribute sweets, as well as tie tricolor wrist bands on their hands. Air India tied the tricolor on jawans' wardrobe.

The environment turned patriotic and mesmerized with slogans of 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' and passengers in the security hall paid standing ovation to the jawans. Entire staff of airlines' thanked Forces for their commendable job towards service of the nation. They also expressed that all Indians are highly indebted to their selfless service.
 


In the first image, it can be seen that the airport is prepared with balloons and flags to celebrate the Independence Day. The airplane staff members can be seen carrying sweets and cheering for the army jawans, who are standing in line. Further, the soldiers can be seen proudly holding the Indian flag in the air.
 


In the second image, the airline staff can be seen felicitating the army jawans just as they are about to board their flight. The flight crew members are putting badge on the crest of the soldier's jersey.

On the special occasion of Independence Day, Republic TV also paid tributes to the stars of the nation through a special broadcast called 'Heroes of India'. One of those who made the nation proud was Lieutenant Colonel Sophia Qureshi, the first woman officer to lead an army contingent.

Lt. Col. Qureshi made history in 2016 as she became the first female officer to lead a training contingent of the Indian army at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) training exercise. While speaking to Republic TV about the same, she spoke about her experience as a part of the UN Peacekeeping forces and at the ASEAN training exercise. Lt. Col. Qureshi said she was picked to lead the contingent in the ASEAN exercise in 2016 due to her existing contribution to the UN peacekeeping forces.
