Its a celebration all across the country as India stepped in the 73rd year of Independence. Colors, patriotic songs, and parade slogans have filled the air and citizens observe the day. Social media platforms are filled with vibrant performances honoring the nation.
Children of Jammu & Kashmir also commemorated the day with full fervour. This is their first Independence day celebration in the state after the abrogation of Article 370 and 35 A and its complete integration with India.
Recent visuals coming in from Kupwara, Jammu & Kashmir, shows them unfurling the tricolor and singing patriotic songs, as the rejoice the occasion in the lap of nature.

Meanwhile, ten days after the momentous passage of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Thursday, expressed his pride in the undoing of a 70-year wrong within 70 days of the formation of his new government, while addressing the nation on India's 73rd Independence Day, from New Delhi's Red Fort.
"After the formation of the new government, I have been blessed to address yet again from the Red Fort. It has not been even ten weeks yet, we have strengthened all fields and have fulfilled all the dreams of the people with which they voted us in power, without delay. The abrogation of article 370 and article 35A within ten weeks is an important step towards fulfilling Sardar Vallabhai Patel's dream," he said.
"Article 370 and 35A - What was the reason for keeping it? It is the identity of this government that we neither delay issues nor do we let it grow. The work which had not happened in the last 70 years, this government accomplished abrogation Article 370 and 35A within 70 days, with 2/3rd majority in both Parliamentary houses. It means that this issue was on everyone's mind, but everyone was wondering who will start it first? The citizens gave me this opportunity," he added further.
Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday moved the resolution to abolish Article 370 that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir in Lok Sabha, a day after it was passed by Rajya Sabha. Speaking in the Lower House of the Parliament, the Home Minister asserted that Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Aksai Chin are part of Jammu and Kashmir and that Kashmir Valley is an integral part of the country.
While addressing Rajya Sabha on Monday, the Home Minister also announced that the government has decided to bifurcate Jammu and Kashmir into two Union territories – Jammu and Kashmir, which will have a legislature, and Ladakh, which will be without a legislature.
