On "Parakram Parv" Air force makes school children's dream come true

In order to showcase the 2nd Anniversary of gallant action by our brave Army in the conduct of Surgical Strike on 29 Sep 2016 and 86th-anniversary celebration of Indian Air Force, Air Force Station Jammu organised a two days static display of military assets.

As the entire nation is celebrating "Parakram Parv" to commemorate the second anniversary of the successful surgical strike that the special forces of the Indian army carried out on terror camps deep within Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, 14-year-old Ankit Bhat had a life-changing experience that he will never forget.

For 14-year-old Ankit Bhat a student of Class 8, seeing an touching a helicopter of the Indian air force was a unique experience as so far he had seen them either in movies or flying so high that he could only dream to touch them.

"I had only seen the air force helicopter on Television or flying so high in the Sky that I could only dream to touch it, but today thanks to the air force that my dream to touch and feel the helicopter was fulfilled," Ankit told Republic.

In order to showcase the 2nd Anniversary of gallant action by our brave Army in the conduct of Surgical Strike on 29 Sep 2016 and 86th-anniversary celebration of Indian Air Force, Air Force Station Jammu organised a two days static display of military assets on Friday.

"The event was organised with an aim to reach out to the students of various schools and colleges and civil population of Jammu region and to familiarise them about the Indian Air Force in particular and Defence Forces in general" Jammu based defence spokesman Lt Col Devender Anand told Republic.

The main attraction at the event were Helicopter, RPA, Mobile Communication Terminal, Air Force Garud Commandos with their state of art weapons. He said that the two days event was inaugurated by Group Captain NK Choubey, Officiating Air Officer Commanding of the Air Force Station Jammu in the presence of a huge gathering of students of various age groups and civil populations of Jammu. 

The visitors were amused with the special display of state of art equipment, MI-17 Helicopter and other activities. "Publicity stalls and free distribution colourful publicity material also attracted the students. A selfie point with mighty MI-17 helicopter at backdrop was the prime attraction of the event" he said.

Like Ankit, there were many young boys and girls who got this opportunity for the first time to see a helicopter and interact with the air force officers. The other attraction at the event was the display of arms and ammunition being used the Indian Air Force.
