In a mega exclusive exposing the Congress party's hand in the mass exodus of Bihar and UP people from Gujarat, Republic TV conducted a sting operation on Thakor Sena, which is headed by Congress' leader Alpesh Thakor.
The investigation conducted on the organization's Gandhinagar chief Govind Rathore brought out in open the link of Congress in the attacks and threats issued to the non-Gujaratis in the state.
Republic TV's senior reporter Priyanka Sharma found out that the individuals who had been involved in the situation in Gujarat are one way or the other related to the Congress party.
Here's the following conversation which took place between the reporter and Govind Rathore:
Priyanka Sharma, senior reporter - So I was telling you about MB Thakor, so how was he arrested?
Govind ji Thakore, Thakore Sena chief, Gandhinagar - His photo was being shown on tv, he is a member of the congress party, and if there was any meeting of the Thakor Sena he would join us for it. He comes to all our meetings (unclear). But he is a part of the sena.
Priyanka Sharma - The police are saying that they are from the Thakor sena.
Govind ji Thakore - It is not just the police, everybody else too has said so in the police station.
Priyanka Sharma - Yes they are the ones who has said it
Govind ji thakore - Every one has said it, yes they have even given an interview on live tv, that he is not a member but a part of the taluka.
Priyanka Sharma - Yes he is a part of the congress party but also a part of the local thakor sena group
Govind ji thakore - No no he is a part of everything, but the head of their village is different, the head's name is Praveen C, this is the village and I am the head here. I can take with me around 100-150 people and make a Thakur sena group. Like that this too is a group be it congress or whatever, everybody is our member.
A couple of days before, Republic TV had stung the aide of Thakor sena chief Alpesh Thakor. When Jagat Thakor was asked about the arrest of a Congress member for inflicting violence, Thakor admitted it and said:
“Yes, there are people from Congress but if you look at the situation, there are people living in our village and till now they have not faced any trouble so far, they've been living in our village for years. The person you are talking about is from the they Congress and is also member of Thakor community. So, that sentiment is there, that a child from our community had to go through this. Yes, I admit what they did is wrong, the guilty should be punished, the innocent people who are living in the village have no clue about what is happening.
Earlier this month, a video had emerged wherein Congress leader MV Thakor could be seen threatening people from UP and Bihar to leave the state. The migrants from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh fleed the state over the fear of backlash following the rape of a 14-month-old toddler by a man from Bihar.
