Outcry For Sacking MoS MJ Akbar Grows, After As Many As 10 Women Allege Harassment By The Former Journalist

As many as 10 women have taken to social media and other forms of media to let the country know about the harassment they had faced by the present Minister of State for External Affairs

Ever since the #MeToo movement has gained momentum, a number of women have come out and spoken about the horrors they have faced in the past, in the hands of men, and in some cases, women. And with that, the trouble for MJ Akbar only seems to increase with every passing day.

As many as 10 women have taken to social media and other forms of media to let the country know about the harassment they had faced by the present Minister of State for External Affairs, when he was working as a journalist.

1. Priya Ramani

It all began with a tweet of journalist called Priya Ramani. She leveled accusations of harassment against MJ Akbar, and stated that in 2017, she had penned her story down, without revealing his name. 

2. Prerna Bindra

Taking courage from Priya, the next women to come and speak out against the MoS was Prerna Bindra. In a series of tweets, she revealed MJ Akbar called her alone in a hotel room, and even made some lewd comments on her.

3. Harinder Baweja

Harinder Baweja revealed that MJ Akbar wanted to meet at her place with a bottle of rum despite her repeatedly saying 'No' and making it clear that she was not comfortable with it. 

4. Shutapa Paul

In a series of tweets, Shutapa Paul explained how she faced torture in the hands of MJ Akbar. She revealed the incident took place eight years ago, and following the #MeToo movement, she found courage to finally speak up.

6. Ghazala Wahab

Ghazala Wahab penned down her horrors on a news website, wherein she accused Akbar of trying to kiss her and misbehaving with her on a number of occasions.

7. Kadambari M Wade

She revealed how MJ Akbar, in the very first meeting, stared down at her chest. He repeated such lewd gestures a number of times, and despite Kadambari telling others about it, she got no help.

Priya Ramani, who was the first to speak out on the harassment faced against MJ Akbar, mentioned every woman, including herself, who stood up to speak against the MoS. 

Following all the allegations against the Mos for External Affairs, sources have told Republic TV that MJ Akbar's position may well be under scrutiny, and that the government may act against him.
