Owaisi was on Friday questioned about NRC and Citizenship Amendment Bill initiated by Home Minister Amit Shah. Speaking about the matter, he maintained that it is 'unconstitutional', asserting that no government can go against Right to Equality granted by the Indian Constitution. Urging the Home Minister to read the Constitution as it prohibits granting of citizenship on the basis of religion, he stated that according to Amit Shah only Muslims need to fear the NRC
"The Home Minister is saying clearly that only undocumented Muslims will have to fear NRC, while others will get Indian citizenship. According to the HM, the only people who must fear the NRC are Muslims," Asaduddin Owaisi had written on his Twitter.
His remarks had come in the reference to the Home Minister's address in Kolkata where he assured that the Hindu, Sikh, Jain and Buddhist refugees that they would not be forced to leave India by the Centre.
