Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram who was arrested in the INX media case on Wednesday will be questioned by the CBI from 10.00 am onwards on Thursday, say sruces. The interrogation will be led by Dy SP R Parthasarthy, sources added. The questioning will be about the INX Media case, the sources said. As per sources, Chidambaram's son and Congress MP from Tamil Nadu Karti will arrive in Delhi soon

Chidambaram's link in INX  media case

P Chidambaram will be confronted with the FIPB files. During March-May 2007, P Chidambaram as Union Finance Minister was aware that FIPB only gave approval of 4.61 crore FDI to INX media, but they managed to illegally bring Rs 335 crore. He will be quizzed regarding Indrani Mukerjea's statement which reads that once FIPB rejected INX media request to bring FDI, the couple (Indrani and Peter) allegedly met him at north block and subsequently Karti Chidambaram in a five-star hotel. 

Chidambaram to be produced before CBI court

The former Union Finance Minister will be produced at Special CBI Court, Rouse Avenue after 2.00 pm. The CBI will be seeking custody of Chidambaram, grounds mainly relying on the Delhi HC order. The CBI legal counsels are preparing the remand paper.

Updates on Chidambaram since his arrest by CBI on Wednesday

He was brought to the CBI HQ around 10.05 pm on Wednesday.  His medical examinations were done at the CBI HQ by the RML Hospital Medical team led by the Medical Superintendent at around 11.00 pm. The former Union Minister was lodged at Suite 5 (Guest room), Ground Floor of CBi HQ. There was no questioning done by the central agency on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, Supreme Court listed the plea of Chidambaram seeking interim relief from arrest on Friday. The CBI and ED had issued lookout notice to the leader and said in the Supreme Court that custodial interrogation is necessary as Chidambaram is being evasive. After 27 hours of being untraceable the Congress leader arrived at the AICC head office for a press conference, and within minutes returned to his Jor Bagh residence. The CBI followed him and arrested him on Wednesday. In unprecedented visuals, the CBI team climbed the walls of Chidambaram's residence to enter his place. The CBI officials after almost 30-minutes long drama arrested Chidambaram for custodial interrogation in the money laundering and corruption cases related to INX media.
