In a second of its kind in three days, the Punjab Police, on Friday, recovered a Pakistani drone at a border village in the state. The drone, according to the police, was used to airdrop arms and ammunition in Punjab. It was found in Mahawa village, by Punjab police’s counter-intelligence unit after a terror accused gave them the information about the same. 

The accused belongs to KZF terror group

According to the police, the accused has been identified as Akashdeep. He is a part of terror group Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF). The drone was hidden in the undergrowth of a paddy field in the village since it couldn’t fly back to Pakistan because of certain technical malfunctions. The terror accused also accompanied the team of the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) of the Punjab Police to the site from where the drone was seized.

Another unmanned vehicle was found on Tuesday

Earlier, the police had recovered a half-burnt unmanned vehicle from Tarn Taran on Tuesday which, according to them, was also used to drop weapons from Pakistan to fuel unrest in Punjab and adjoining states. While talking about the recent incidents, Union Minister of State for Defence Shripad Yesso Naik, while investing his confidence in India’s capability, said that India is capable of dealing with any situation. Meanwhile, Amarinder Singh, Chief Minister of Punjab, while speaking about the issue, took to Twitter and requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah to take appropriate action.

The police said the terror group was conspiring to unleash a series of strikes in Punjab and neighbouring states. During the investigation, the accused revealed to the police that drones were used to airdrop arms and ammunition from Pakistan.
