Pakistan's former Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Baldev Kumar, on Tuesday, slammed Navjot Singh Sidhu's comment which he made in February this year, stating that tensions between India and Pakistan will be resolved peacefully. While speaking to Republic TV, Baldev Kumar, directing his statement at Navjot Singh Sidhu said, "Where is peace? Sidhu sahab, you don't know Imran Khan, I know him." The former MLA of Pakistan has fled the country and is currently living in India and is asking for an asylum order. Baldev Kumar has further requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister of Punjab Amarinder Singh to do something for the people who are coming to India from Pakistan.
According to Baldev Kumar, he fled Pakistan and reached India on August 11. Since then, he has been staying with his wife and two children in his in-laws’ house in Punjab’s Khanna town for over a month now. “It is true that I have reached here after a lot of trouble. I have not even told my family that I will be seeking an asylum order in India," he said. He further went on to state that no one is secure in Pakistan. "Not just the minorities, but even the Muslims are not secure in Pakistan," he said. On Pakistan being called a 'terrorist state', he said that PM Imran Khan is making Pakistan a terrorist country.
Pakistan's former MLA from Imran Khan's PTI is seeking a political asylum in India over the abuse of minority communities in Pakistan. He stated on Tuesday that no one is safe in Pakistan and so he decided to flee the country. He also asserted that Hindus and Sikhs are 'tortured' in Pakistan.
Last year, the Congress MLA, Navjot Singh Sidhu had visited Pakistan for the ground-breaking ceremony of the Kartarpur corridor. The visit had turned out to be extremely controversial because while the Chief Minister of Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh had declined the invitation from Pakistan, Navjot Singh Sidhu had accepted it. In another controversy, the ex-Cabinet Minister, Sidhu, had visited Pakistan for Imran Khan's oath-taking ceremony last year where he was slammed for hugging the Pakistan Army General, Qamar Javed Bajwa. While speaking to Republic TV exclusively, CM Captain Amarinder Singh slammed Kumar and said, "He has probably been on the camera so often, he does these things without even thinking." He futher stated that India has lost many soldiers on the orders of Bajwa.
In February this year, amidst the tensions between India and Pakistan, Sidhu had insisted on talks with Pakistan and stated that the solution to the tensions between the two countries lies in dialogue and diplomatic pressure. He had written a letter titled 'We have a choice' in which he had written, "I stand by my conviction that dialogue and diplomatic pressure will count for a great deal in seeking a long term solution to the presence and practice of terror outfits that operate within and across the border. The solution to terror is peace, development and progress." In July this year, the Congress MLA resigned from the State Cabinet, just when the India-Pakistan delegations were to have talks on the Kartarpur corridor. Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader, Majinder Singh Sirsa had accused Sidhu for trying to sabotage the meeting.
#NavjotSinghSidhu has timed to make his resignation public now to sabotage the meet of Indo-Pak leaders on Kartarpur Corridor— Manjinder S Sirsa (@mssirsa) July 14, 2019
Sidhu once again toes @INCIndia line & works against the interest of Sikhs. His resignation timing is anti-India just like his hug to General Bajwa was!! pic.twitter.com/Ah6an172kx
