Paralympic silver medal winning athlete Deepa Malik congratulated DRDO on the success of ''Mission Shakti''.

The Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) has been receiving a lot of praises for their successful programme '`Mission Shakti''. After the Prime Minister announced to the country that 'Mission Shakti' - entailing the downing of a Low-Earth Orbit satellite by an indigenous Anti-Satellite weapon (A-SAT) The space organisation have been receiving congratulatory messages from Prime Minister Narendra Modi right to other eminent leaders in the political fraternity on Twitter. Even the sports fraternity are taking to Twitter to congratulate DRDO.

Apart from Deepa, there were other sportspersons who congratulated DRDO on their outstanding achievement. 

India's opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan also praised DRDO's achievement.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an address to the nation said Defence Research and Development Organisation's (DRDO) anti-satellite missile, or ASAT, has shot down a low-orbital satellite in three months, in what he termed as "Mission Shakti". Modi was confident that the ASAT missile will give new strength to India's space programme. By the virtue of this achievement, India has achieved itself as a space power. India is now the fourth country in the world to achieve this feat after USA, Russia and China. 

At the same time, PM Modi also assured the international community that they will not use their capability against anyone as it is purely in the interest of India's defence initiative for its security.
