After former Jammu-Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti warned the Centre against breaking up the PDP, Congress slammed both the BJP and PDP and termed it a ‘fixed fight’ situation. While addressing a press briefing, Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala said its PDP, BJP’s tactic to deceive people. Surjewala said they have fixed these fights to fool the people of India.
“To seek votes, they’ve segregated temporarily. These statements are made only to fool the people of India. The fixed fight of the PDP-BJP, however, is not going to deceive anyone anymore,” said the Congress leader.
Randeep Surjewala also said that the Modi-government has no concrete policy in Jammu-Kashmir.
“What is Modi government’s policy in the state of Jammu-Kashmir? 49 months after Modi assumed power, India still doesn't know govts Pak Policy. Is it only about Saree-Shawl diplomacy? Is it only about enjoying feasts in former Pak PM’s house? Is the policy about not having a policy?,” said Randeep Surjewala.
“PDP BJP alliance which was formed due to lust of power has ended up pushing state into unending cycle of terrorism. PM Modi, Mehbooba and their unholy alliance responsible for eroding peace of state,” he added.
Prior to this, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, J-K Congress chief, said Mufti herself is to be blamed for the current situation within her party and in the state.
Earlier, Mufti came out and said if the centre tried to plant a rift within her party or try and do horse trading, then it may result in the rise of more separatists and terrorists like Yasin Malik and Syed Salahuddin.
“If Delhi tries to create a rift, if they try to do horse trading, then the consequences will be bad. People like Yasin Malik and Salahuddin were created in 1987, if today they try to break the PDP, more people like them will rise,” said Mehbooba Mufti.
Meanwhile, Omar Abdullah has hit out at Mufti for her explosive statement. In a couple of tweets, Omar Abdullah has slammed Mufti and said, “Let me put this out here for all to remember NOT ONE NEW MILITANT WILL BE CREATED WITH THE BREAK UP OF THE PDP. People will not mourn the demise of a party created in Delhi only to divide the votes of Kashmiris.”
Earlier on July 8, sources told Republic TV that Mehbooba Mufti called for a meeting with all PDP MLAs who have differences with the party. As per reports, out of 28 MLAs, only 8 were present at the meeting, which indicated that there are differences within the party at large. The meeting started at 11 am and is still on.
This comes a few days after Republic TV has learned that that Mehbooba Mufti was facing a potential split within the ranks of the PDP.
