Plastic-Free rally by the Mizo-Chelsea Supporters sparks attention

The Mizo Chelsea Supporters Club from Aizwal, Mizoram, took out a rally including 70 members on Tuesday to create awareness to make the state plastic-free

The Mizo Chelsea Supporters Club from Aizwal, Mizoram took out a rally on Tuesday to create awareness to make the state plastic-free. The group of die-hard fans of the Chelsea Football Club comprising 70 members took part in the rally which was taken out for an hour at 7 in the morning. The members took a pledge to do away with plastics and make the state plastic-free. Lianzuala Chhangte, Indian professional footballer, was present there along with former Indian football captain Jeje Lalpekhlua and Daniel Lalhlimpuia, striker of Delhi Dynamos.

Football rules the hearts in the North-Eastern State

The group of fans not only just took out the rally and made a pledge but also picked plastic trash holding banners saying- No Single-Use Plastic. The rally was flagged off by Aizawl City Councillor Rosiamngheta. Ever since the club's formation, they have been giving free rides to the public in the city of Aizawl apart from regularly donating blood to the needy and the blood banks. Despite Cricket being tantamount to a religion, Football rules hearts in the North East.

The region not only has an abundance of football fans but has also produced many stars of the game, the most famous of them being Baichung Bhutia.

The Mizo-Chelsea Supporters Club

This group started as a social media fan page named 'Mizo-Chelsea Fans' on November 11, 2011, with the motto of Charity in the name of the football club. There is a charity ride by the club every December and the club’s loyalty and charity work have also recognized by the Chelsea FC. Apart from just being a die-hard fan of the football club, they also intend to put Mizoram on the global map in a different manner. Apart from the plastic-free rally, the club organises charity rides, collecting cash, food, and clothes for the orphanage. The fan club also celebrates the victory of the  Chelsea FC in a  championship trophy by organising a blood donation camp.
