Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting of the National Security Council on Sunday evening at his official 7LKM residence, amid the prevailing tensions with Pakistan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting of the National Security Council on Sunday evening at his official 7LKM residence, amid the prevailing tensions with Pakistan.

The meeting was attended by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Raksha Mantri Nirmala Sitharaman, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale.

The Prime Minister returned to New Delhi to chair the key meeting after a hectic day which saw him address two high-octane rallies, in Patna and Amethi.

In Amethi, the Prime Minister had taken on the opposition for bolstering Pakistan's case by repeatedly questioning the security forces, while later, in Amethi, he had inaugurated a India-Russia Joint Venture Ordnance factory which soon begin manufacturing AK-203 assault rifles - the latest advancement of the iconic AK-47 - which will over the next two decades, become standard issue for the security forces and paramilitary forces, with 7.5 lakh of them to be manufactured under Make In India.

Meanwhile, earlier in the day at the front, Chief Of Army Staff General Bipin Rawat visited a number of the Indian Army's forward locations in Jammu's Samba and Ratnuchak on Sunday, reviewing the operational deployment and preparedness.

 The Army Chief was briefed about the situation & preparedness by Lt Gen JS Nain, General Officer Commanding Rising Star Corps. He also interacted with the troops in forward locations and expressed complete confidence in the Indian Army's capabilities to thwart any nefarious design of enemies of the country and to handle any situation. The Army Chief also praised the high state of morale and preparedness of the troops.
