PM Modi gets Aamir Khan's support in movement against plastic, replies
Aamir Khan has backed PM Modi's clarion call for a movement against plastics in the lead-up to Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary on October 2, 2019

As a part of his monthly radio program "Mann Ki Baat" on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had added to his anti-Plastic clarion call issued on Independence Day and had called for a campaign against single-use plastice in the memory of Mahatma Gandhi. The Prime Minister had said that nothing could be a bigger tribute to the Father of the Nation before India is to celebrate his 150th birth anniversary on October 2, than to further the goal of a 'Swachh Bharat.' His call was received enthusiastically by a prominent member of the Indian film industry - Aamir Khan - and a conversation has now ensued.

Aamir Khan supports a Plastic Free India
In response to PM Modi's statement, Aamir Khan encouraged the plastic-free movement and tweeted that we should all strongly support it.
The initiative by the Hon'ble PM @narendramodi to curb 'single use plastic' is an effort all of us should strongly support. It's up to each of us to make sure we stop using 'single use plastic'.

In response to his tweet, the Prime Minister thanked Aamir Khan for his valuable support to eliminate plastics and said that his uplifting words will inspire others to strengthen the movement.

Prime Minister's prediction materialises
The push against plastic also found a supporter in Karan Johar who took to Twitter to similarly post on the movement.

The anti-Plastic movement
During his latest Mann Ki Baat address, the Prime Minister had said , "This year, on Gandhi Jayanti, when we celebrate Bapu's 150th birth anniversary, we shall not only dedicate to him an India that is open defecation-free but also shall lay the foundation of a new revolution against plastic, by people themselves, throughout the country." He added that people from all strata of the society should celebrate Gandhi Jayanti this year as a day to make "Mother India plastic-free".
