Addressing a public meeting in Gujarat's Narmada district on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi described Kevadia as a tourism destination. He opined that there was a belief in Indian culture about carrying out development while protecting nature at the same time. PM Modi stated that nature was of foremost importance and India's jewel. He mentioned that Kevadia was an ideal example of how nature is preserved along with developmental works.
The PM revealed that he had got an opportunity to visit many places from the morning. He observed that there was a unique combination of development and natural beauty in every place that he visited. PM Modi explained this by pointing out that the Sardar Sarovar Dam and the equipment to generate electricity were present in the region. At the same time, he noted that the area also had the Ekta nursery, a butterfly garden, a cactus garden, and eco-tourism related activities. He further added that the scenic location gave an impression that the imposing statue of Sardar Patel was giving his blessings to the people. The PM reiterated that was a unique combination of progress, environment, nature, and tourism in Kevadia.
On Monday night, the entire Sardar Sarovar Dam was lit up with bright coloured lighting. PM Modi reached Ahmedabad around the same time on the occasion of his 69th birthday. The Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat along with Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Deputy CM Nitin Patel received him at the airport.
