National Spokesperson of the BJP GVL Narasimha Rao has tweeted on Wednesday saying that the extradition of Christian Michel was a big win for the Narendra Modi government. He also said that the Michel's extradition to India spells doom to the Congress.

Congress leader and former UPA minister Salman Khurshid has there is nothing in the AgustaWestland case and that the BJP is trying to somehow involve Congress leaders in it.

"Very impressed with the CBI, tearing itself apart and screaming and shouting at each other with all allegations of corruption doing the rounds before the Supreme Court and the high court and in newspapers, but it still finds the time to hold some one responsible for AgustaWestland scam, that too after other countries which where involved have finished their legal proceedings and come to the conclusion that there is nothing.

This is an attempt to put pressure on them to somehow involve Congress leaders in this enterprise. If that's the game the CBI wants to play let them play it. I hope they have their facts and figures and they have their documents in decent enough condition, to be able to persuade the court in the country and say what they have done is correct. So, good luck to them," he said.

Congress spokesperson PL Punia has said that BJP is trying to distract from the Rafale deal. "It has been the habit of the BJP, that whenever questions about the corruption in the Rafale deal is asked, they try to change the topic as to not answer the questions," he said.

Christian Michel was extradited to India on late Tuesday night from the UAE. The CBI took his custody soon after he landed in New Delhi. He is at the CBI headquarters and will be produced in Patiala House Court later today. As per sources, he may not be physically brought there for security reasons, being produced remotely via in-camera proceedings.

The CBI had on Tuesday evening issued a statement, hours after Republic TV first broke news of Michel being extradited, stating that the development had taken place under the guidance of NSA Ajit Doval, Director Incharge of CBI Nageswara Rao and CBI Joint Director Sai Manohar.
