Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the Dussehra celebrations at Ram Leela Maidan in Dwarka, New Delhi, on Tuesday where he delivered an important message of women's empowerment. The PM stated that Indians must do whatever it takes to honour our daughters and walk the talk towards women's empowerment and 'Nari shakti'. Furthermore, the PM stated that women are avatars of Lakshmi.
"The country that worships goddess Durga, in that land, the respect of every mother and daughter, the pride of every mother and daughter, the dignity of every mother and daughter, with the worshipping of our goddess Durga, this is our responsibility, it is the responsibility of every citizen," the PM said.
'In our country, the festivals even though they change with the times, we are a society which accepts the change with pride. Even faced with challenges, we have the ability to challenge as well and according to the needs, we can even change ourselves," He added.
Speaking on women's empowerment, he stated that we should work towards protecting the dignity of women, further comparing the women of India to goddess Lakshmi. He added that the daughters of India are an 'avatar' of the diety. Furthermore, he added that the daughters who have achieved something in their lives should be commemorated.
