Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s episode on ‘Man Vs Wild’ with Bear Grylls promises to be an exciting one, if the latest promo is anything to go by. Not just their adventurous journey in the Himalayan foothills, at Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand, the duo also talk about various pertinent issues like wildlife, India’s natural beauty and cleanliness. PM saying that the wildlife is not danger, opening up on his journey in the Himalayas during his teenage and how India is progressing rapidly in the cleanliness department, are some of the highlights of the episode.
In the latest promo, Bear Grylls expresses his excitement on a helicopter about the ‘spectacular but dangerous’ wildlife consisting of tigers, crocodiles, elephants and lot of snakes.
He then says, “PM Modi might be the leader of the biggest democracy in the world, but it’s the wild that’s in charge here.”
PM welcomes Bear Grylls to India, but the latter says, “It is a dangerous place, there is also a lot of wildlife, that’s the reason people don’t come out.”
But PM disagrees, “We shouldn’t consider it as danger. When we fight with the nature, everything is danger, even a man becomes danger.”
PM shared an interesting story about his time in the Himalayas, “Actually at the age of 17-18, I left home and was thinking what to do, I was fond of nature. I used to interact with the people, used to live with them. It was a special experience. Till today that time is a power for me.”
The duo then makes a weapon with sticks, Bear Grylls tells PM, “You are the most important man in India, my job is to keep you alive” and shows him how to protect himself with the weapon if a tiger comes.
PM says, “As per my beliefs, I don’t believe in attacking. I will only keep it for you.”
Bear Grylls then tells PM Modi, “You live in the most beautiful country.”
However, he asks him how India can be clean. PM, whose ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ was one of his first initiatives in 2014, replied, “India won’t get clean with the help from ouside. India will be clean with the behaviour of the citizens. Personal hygiene is a part of our values. We have to develop the habit for social hygiene. Mahatma Gandhi worked immensely for this. And we are achieving success in this mission, India is working towards it rapidly.”
The Man vs Wild episode featuring PM Modi will be aired on August 12 on the Discovery Network at 9 PM.
