PM Modi: 'Our Relationship Will Contribute Towards Peace & Stability'

After the delegation-level talks, PM Modi stated: India and China will manage their differences with prudently and 'won't allow them to turn into disputes.'

Following the delegation-level talks on October 12, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping issued statements. The Prime Minister issuing the opening statement spoke about how the two countries will manage their respective differences with the utmost care and, “won't allow them to turn into disputes.” PM Modi further added, “We will remain sensitive about our concerns and our relationship will contribute towards peace and stability in the world.”

PM Modi full statement:

PM Modi asserts India and China have emerged as economic powers

The Prime Minister also spoke in Tamil and extended congratulatory wishes to the People’s Republic of China on the occasion of its 70th foundation anniversary. The Prime Minister went to also speak about how Tamil Nadu has historically shared trade and cultural relations with China.  PM Modi further asserted that India and China have emerged to be economic powers in the past 2,000 years.

'It led to fresh stability'

The Prime Minister also spoke about the last year informal summit in Wuhan, PM Modi said that 'it led to fresh stability between India and China. The first informal summit also helped in improved strategic communication between the two countries'. He also stated that the 'Wuhan Spirit' instilled a new momentum and trust in the bilateral relations between India and China, adding that the 'Chennai Connect' is the start of a new era in the relations between the two countries.

PM appeals to maintain cleanliness

Earlier on Saturday before the second day of the Second Informal Modi-Xi summit began, PM Modi, posted a video of him collecting garbage from the beach in Mamallapuram. He revealed that he cleaned the beach for over 30 minutes. Later, he handed over the waste to a member of the hotel staff. Subsequently, the PM appealed to the people to maintain cleanliness in the public spaces. PM Modi is in Mamallapuram for the informal summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
