Shaheed Bhagat Singh

The revolutionary freedom fighter, often referred to as ‘Shaheed Bhagat Singh’ was born on September 28, 1907, in Banga, Punjab, which lies in Pakistan. His martyrdom at a tender age of 23 has made him a hero in India's struggle for independence. Bhagat Singh, along with Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar was sentenced to death for conspiring to kill a British police officer who was responsible for brutal police action on Lala Lajpat Rai leading to his death due to heart attack three weeks after the police attack.

Several Bollywood films have been made depicting the life of Bhagat Singh and the freedom struggle he had in his brief lifetime. Of all the movies on Bhagat Singh, 'The Legend of Bhagat Singh' released in 2006 and went on to receive two national awards for the best actor and best feature film.
