Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Thailand on Saturday to attend the 16th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit on November 3. The Prime Minister took to Twitter and wrote about meeting world leaders and improving India's connectivity with the ASEAN nations.

On the sidelines of his visit to Thailand to attend the ASEAN summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave an exclusive interview to the Bangkok Post. During the interview, when asked about India becoming a global power under his leadership, PM Modi spoke about his mantra of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas' and India's contribution to the global economic growth.

PM Modi said, "It is well-known that India is an ancient civilisation with enormous richness and diversity. Till a few hundred years ago, India contributed a major chunk of global growth. It has contributed to the development of science, literature, philosophy, art, and architecture. In doing all this, it did not seek to dominate others but built lasting ties across seas and oceans."

'21st century will be Asia's century'

The Prime Minister also added how India has been actively increasing its contribution in the world, be it in the economic sphere or fighting against climate change, in space and its fight against terror. He said, "Today, India is one of the largest contributors to global economic growth and development. The people of India have amply demonstrated that they are second to none if they get the right environment policies that enable them to realise their true potential."

The Prime Minister highlighted the fact that as 21st century is considered to be Asia's century, so India remains prepared to contribute to this transformation in Asia and the world. Adding to this, he stated, "India remains a strong advocate of strengthening and reforming multilateralism amid contemporary realities. In times of global uncertainties, a rapidly growing, democratic and strong India continues to be a beacon of stability, prosperity, and peace."
