PM Modi Releases Rs 100 Coin Commemorating Former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee; Here's How It Looks

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday released a new 100-rupee coin commemorating former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a day before the Bharat Ratna's birth anniversary. The coin weighing 35 grams, has the portrait of Atal Bihari Vajpayee with his name inscribed in the Devanagari script as well as English on one side. Furthermore, the bottom of the image on the coin has the birth and death year - 1924-2018 inscribed on it. 

Other salient features of the Rs 100 coin:

  • It is made up of silver(50 per cent), copper(40 per cent), nickel (5 per cent) and zinc (5 per cent)
  • It shall bear the Ashoka Pillar Lion Capital in the centre with ‘Satyameva Jayate’ inscribed below in the Devanagari script on the other side.
  • Left periphery will have ‘Bharat’ inscribed in Devanagari while the right side will have ‘India’ inscribed in English language.

PM Modi launched the coin in the presence of BJP party chief Amit Shah, Union Minister Mahesh Sharma, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and senior BJP leader LK Advani at the Parliament House in New Delhi.

Addressing the gathering at the occasion, Prime Minister remembered Atal Bihari Vajpayee for his contributions towards the development of the country.
