PM Modi responds to TN man who invited him to daughter's wedding

A Tamil Nadu man - named TS Rajasekaran invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to his daughter's wedding scheduled on Sep 11 and the PM responded with a letter.

A Tamil Nadu man invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to his daughter's wedding and the PM responded with a letter. The PM's letter came as a moment of happiness for the Tamil Nadu man named TS Rajasekaran - a retured regional medical researcher. For his daughter's wedding scheduled at September 11, Rajasekaran sent a letter to PM Modi. The Prime Minister in his letter said: "It is my pleasure to learn about the wedding of your daughter Dr Rajsri with Dr Sudarsan. Thank you for inviting me on this momentous occasion." He also wished the would be new couple a future filled with “prosperity and wonderful shared experiences.”

“As they start this new phase in their lives, I pray that the journey is filled with prosperity and wonderful shared experiences. I wish they move ahead in their life with joy and happiness,” the letter from PM Modi added.

Expressing their euphoria after recieving PM 's letter, the Rajsekaran family told local reporters that PM modi's letter came as a huge surprise. They were aware that Prime Minister would not be able to attend the wedding due to busy schedule. However, when they recieved a response, they were elated.

PM Modi on Monday at a session of United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) in Greater Noida,stated that the menace of plastic waste is a form of land degradation. Addressing the gathering based on the theme 'Investing in Land, Unlocking Opportunities', PM Modi said, "I call upon the leadership of UNCCD to create a global water action agenda which is central to the land degradation neutrality strategy."  He also added, "Apart from having adverse health implications, the use of plastic is going to render lands unproductive and unfit for agriculture."

PM inaugurates petroleum pipeline

Meanwhile, PM Modi and his Nepalese counterpart KP Sharma Oli jointly inaugurated the India-Nepal cross-border petroleum pipeline through video conferencing on Tuesday. This pipeline project is the first of its kind in India-Nepal and South Asia. In his vote of thanks, Nepalese PM KP Sharma Oli mentioned meeting PM Modi last year on the ceremony of formally launching the project and expressed his happiness on the completion of the project within half the scheduled timeframe. Oli said that the project will not only save time and reduce cost but also curb air pollution and lessen road traffic while opening avenues in Nepal to open similar pipelines across the country.
