PM Modi to chair first meeting with Council of Ministers of new government on Wednesday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be chairing the first meeting with the fresh council of Ministers on Wednesday and is likely to draw the roadmap of his government 2.0.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be chairing the first meeting with the fresh council of Ministers on Wednesday and is likely to draw the roadmap of his government 2.0. 

As per PTI sources, PM Modi will be accentuating on the role of ministers of the state in the Cabinet 2.0 and may ask Cabinet Ministers to give their deputies adequate responsibilities. 

Deliberations are also likely to be held on an action plan for the government's next term and PM Modi is expected to brief the ministers about it. 

It is known that PM Modi reviewed the performances of key ministers in his Cabinet during the first term. 

The Union Cabinet will hold a meeting on Wednesday ahead of the council of ministers' meeting.

With Parliament session beginning next week, the ministers of state will have a key role as in most of the ministries they are responsible to handle parliamentary questions which are tabled on the floor of the House.

Cabinet ministers usually handle questions for which oral replies are to be given.

In the first Cabinet meeting, the Modi government had approved the expansion of the PM-KISAN scheme to cover all farmers who will get Rs 6,000 financial assistance per annum.

Addressing the agrarian crisis, PM Modi's Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana will now cater to over 15 crore farmer families as the expansion will benefit landless farmers along with those who have less than 5 acres (2 hectares) of land.

Along with that PM Modi's 2.0 government also cleared a special scheme for Control of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and Brucellosis common among livestock. 

The scheme envisages vaccination coverage to 30 crore bovines (cows, bulls, and buffaloes) and 20 crore sheep, goat and 10 million pigs, according to the Press Information Bureau. 

The program that was implemented on cost sharing between Central and State governments, will now be fully sponsored by the Center.
