Post Chandrayaan-2’s lander Vikram’s loss of communication with ground stations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the ISRO scientists and the Nation, delivering a powerful message of resilience and tenacity. In his address at Bengaluru, he commended the ISRO scientists for their relentless efforts and said, “You will give us several more reasons to smile.”

“India stands in solidarity with ISRO,” says PM Modi 

The Prime Minister in his address to the scientists at ISRO Mission Control Centre in Bengaluru empathized with the ISRO team and said, “You spend your entire life to make Mother India proud. I can understand your state of mind. You have given your best only and will give us several more reasons to smile.”

He also lauded the commendable feats achieved by ISRO uptill now which has helped the country gain wide recognition and praised the space agency by saying, “ISRO is recognised as one of the greatest space agencies. No matter where I travel, the name that ISRO has created for itself is something that makes the nation proud of you all." 

"In our illustrious history, we have faced moments that may have slowed us but they have never crushed our spirit. We have bounced back again and gone on to do spectacular things. This is the reason why our civilization stands tall," said the PM extolling ISRO.

Modi thanks the families of ISRO scientists 

Earlier on Saturday, ISRO's ground station lost communication with Chandrayaan-2’s Vikram lander just 2.1 km away from the lunar surface. In his address to the nation, Modi also expressed his gratitude to the families of ISRO scientists through his speech. “I salute not just you all, but also your families, for their contribution is priceless towards you all achieving so much over the years,” said the PM.

PM Applauds ISRO’s effort

The PM congratulated and encouraged the team of scientists by saying, “India stands with ISRO, there will be a new dawn.” In a feat to explore the south pole of the Lunar Surface which has never been tried by any other country before, the lander overcame a major rough breaking phase and lost communication with ground station just 2.1km before touchdown.

“As important as the final result is the journey and the effort, I can proudly say that the effort was worth it and so was the journey. Our team worked hard, travelled far and those teachings will always remain with us. The learnings from today will make us stronger and better,” said Modi in a tweet.
