PM Modi-Xi Jinping hold marathon 3-hour talks over dinner at summit

PM Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping concluded their second informal meet with a three-hour-long dinner and exchanged views on deepening Indo-China ties.

After an eventful day, the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping finally concluded the day with a three-hour-long private dinner hosted by PM Modi in Chennai. The dinner which was scheduled to be approximately around 45 minutes to one hour, lasted for long three hours which speaks volumes about the rapport shared between the two global leaders. Raveesh Kumar, Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, also tweeted about the three-hour-long dinner and said that the leaders exchanged views on deepening ties between New Delhi and Beijing.

PM Modi gifts Xi Jinping items crafted by Tamil artists

The second informal meeting between PM Modi and his Chinese counterpart signifies the warm relation between India and China. Before hosting Xi Jinping for a private three-hour-long dinner, PM Modi, who was dressed in traditional attire, took President Xinping to a tour of the Mamallapuram as traditional music set up the perfect ambience. The leaders strolled through the historical city of Mamallapuram which has magnificent architecture dating back to the Pallava dynasty. While at the Krishna's Butter Ball, PM Modi and President Xi Jinping raised their hands in unison to symbolise Indo-China ties. PM Modi also gifted the Chinese President items crafted by artists from Tamil Nadu that hold a deep cultural essence and traditional values.

Mamallapuram - venue of Modi- Xi informal meet

The old seaport town in Kanchipuram, also known as Mahabalipuram, is the site for the visit of Chinese Premier and Prime Minister Modi. The old seaport is a UNESCO World Heritage site and has a rich history. The seaport served as a gateway for import and export of goods to and fro South India and China back in the 7th century. From the informal meet between the two Asian leaders, both countries hope to explore the historical and cultural connection between Mamallapuram and China. Mamallapuram, the city of Mamalla, is named after the Pallava ruler Narasimhavarman-I. Kanchipuram was the capital of the Pallavas around the sixth century and Mamallapuram, a major seaport, was used to establish trade links with South-East Asian countries, including China. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also tweeted in Mandarin, Tamil and English about the guided tour of city of Mamallapuram with the Chinese Premier.
