The first episode of the second season of Mann Ki Baat will arrive four months after the Prime Minister, in his final show before the elections, had promised that he would return after the results. In that episode on February 24, PM Modi said that the radio programme was a sublime experience for him.

Having officially started on and from 3 October 2014, the program aims to deliver the Prime Minister's voice to the masses. Given the proliferation of the medium - estimated to reach 90% of India's population - radio was chosen to be the means for the communication. Mann Ki Baat also has the distinction of becoming a major source of revenue for All India Radio, with ad slots fetching a premium.
