The spokesperson for the Indian National Congress (INC) and Member of Parliament (MP) in the Rajya Sabha Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi on Monday has come out and praised the initiatives being undertaken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Central Government. PM Modi had announced that Siachen would soon see tourists visit to which the INC spokesperson tweeted that it was commendable.

Earlier on Monday, Dr. Singhvi had hailed the freedom fighter, Veer Savarkar by recognising his contribution to India's freedom struggle. This comes at a time when the Congress has been continuously attacking the BJP and opposing its 'Bharat Ratna for Savarkar' pitch. Dr. Singhvi had that he personally does not subscribe to Savarkar's ideology. Singhvi took to Twitter to share his views on Monday, October 21.

In a major move on Monday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has announced that the Siachen area is now open for tourists. Taking to Twitter, the defence minister said that Ladakh has tremendous potential in tourism and informed that the area from the base camp of Siachen to Kumar post has been opened for tourism. He also expressed his hope that better connectivity in Ladakh will help in enhancing Tourism in Ladakh.

The Siachen area is now open for tourists and Tourism. From Siachen Base Camp to Kumar Post, the entire area has been opened for Tourism purposes.
