Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to take the oath for the second consecutive term at the office at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi on May 30, exactly a week after massive landslide victory in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections on May 23. The oath-taking ceremony will be administered by President Ram Nath Kovind.

The mega event is set to take place in the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan at 7 pm. While significantly, the Durbar Hall at the Rashtrapati Bhavan is usually the swearing-in venue, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Chandra Shekhar are the only Prime Ministers of India, apart from Narendra Modi, who have sworn-in at the Forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Notably, this is going to be the sixth time a Prime Minister of India will be taking oath on the forecourt instead of the Durbar Hall.

PM Modi's swearing-in ceremony is set to witness an estimated 8,000 guests from all across the world at the Forecourt which the Rashtrapati Bhawan has ever hosted. Therefore, keeping in mind the huge guest list, the Forecourt - the T-shaped path that leads to the main building from the main gate - was chosen over the historic Durbar Hall for PM Modi's swearing-in ceremony. The Durbar Hall can accommodate only 500 people or so.

After the 2014 elections, PM Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony was held on the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhawan. This will be the sixth time a prime minister, in the political history of India, takes oath on the forecourt instead of Rashtrapati Bhavan's Durbar Hall.

From political leaders to sportspersons and film stars, a record 8,000+ guests are likely to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi. Leaders of BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) comprises Bangladesh, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Nepal and Bhutan, have been invited for the swearing-in ceremony.
