The idea behind this address is taking another step in the direction of walking the talk on following Gandhi's principle of 'Swachhata'. Moreover, this particular address to sarpanch will be done to take the practices of Mahatma to the rural areas. While announcing the event formally, the BJP leaders shared that PM is also expected to declare the country 'open defecation free' on the special occasion of 150th Gandhi Jayanti.

"We want to share with the news that we have taken steps in the right direction to make sure that Gandhi's principles reach across the country. Also, we want to show that there is still a lot more that can be done in the future in rural areas and that's why this speech will be given in front of village heads," shared deputy chief minister Nitin Patel.

It is also a known fact that the PM fasts during Navaratri and have from time to time made it a point to visit Gujarat during the time of the nine-day celebrations. pM is expected to take part in the Aarti and then depart from the venue.

The preparations for 150th Gandhi Jayanti had been going on for quite some time. According to sources a meeting also took place between PM, Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani and other leaders to make sure about the preparations of October 2 when Narendra Modi had come to Gujarat on his birthday (Sept 17).
