In the wake of the protests by PMC bank scam victims at BJP office in Mumbai, party spokesperson Shaina NC assured action in the case. Speaking to Republic on Thursday after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's press briefing in Mumbai, Shaina NC asserted that the BJP stands with the victims. She added that Nirmala Sitharaman heard their pleas and assured that she will speak to the RBI Governor for action to be taken in the matter.
"We stand with the victims because we believe that they are not the victims. Nirmala Sitharaman ji also heard their plea. Even as the Finance Ministry has nothing to do with Cooperative banks, she assured that she will speak to RBI governor and what can be done," BJP's Shaina NC said.
Reading the letter of the victims of the PMC bank scam seeking Finance Ministry return of their savings, she said their demand is quite justified and assured that the letter will be sent to the Finance Ministry. Speaking about the probe carried out by the police and the ED in the scam, the BJP Spokesperson hailed the action taken by the ED officers, adding that the administration has done its job well. Shaina NC said that the government is with the PMC bank scam victims and expect the Finance Minister to issue a statement after interaction with the RBI.
"ED and Mumbai Police has done their job swiftly. 10 cases have been registered and four people are also in jail. The government is with the victims and we expect Nirmala Sitharaman to give a statement after speaking to RBI," she added.
Addressing media briefing at BJP's Mumbai office, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that she will interact with RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das and request to expedite permission for withdrawal of money the PMC bank users have deposited. She added that she will convey the sense of agency in the matter and distress that the depositors of the PMC bank are going through to the RBI Governor.

Even after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman assured adequate action, the protestors stated that they were not satisfied by mere assurances. The agitated PMC bank depositors maintained that the Finance Minister should have made such statements earlier. Furthermore, one of the protestors stressed immediate remedial measures, adding that the return of the money was the priority for the customers.
