Police constable killed in UP's Ghazipur by stone-pelting mob

A police constable in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur died on Saturday after he was hit by a group of stone pelting mob.

A police constable in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur died on Saturday after he was hit by a group of stone pelting mob. The policeman killed in Ghazipur has been identified as constable Suresh Vats. The incident took place few hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a rally in the Uttar Pradesh. 11 people have been held in connection with the case. Taking cognizance of the unfortunate death of constable Suresh Vats UP CM Yogi Adityanath announced Rs 40 lakh compensation for the wife of the deceased.

The constable was returning when the incident happened. The stone pelting was carried out by workers of Rashtriya Nishad Party who were demanding reservation for their community.

This is the second time when a policeman has been killed in cold blood in Uttar Pradesh. Recently, Subodh Kumar Singh lost his life in the mob violence in Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh. Post Mortem report had confirmed gun shot injury to Subodh Kumar Singh in addition to injuries sustained by hard and blunt object. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had announced ex gratia of Rs 40 lakh to Wife of inspector Subodh Kumar and 10 Lakh to Parents  of the civilian.
