Rajya Sabha MP Dr Subramanian Swamy has responded to the sensational newsbreak regarding the Delhi Police knowing, as a result of the report of the SDM who first inspected the Leela Palace Hotel room, that Sunanda Pushkar's death was a murder, and not a suicide.

Dr Swamy says that he'll be taking the new evidence to the Supreme Court:

"My petition was dismissed in the High Court when the bench changed. So I went to the Supreme Court which sent notice to the Delhi Police. Now the date has to be fixed and the Delhi Police has to respond. "

"Over the course of this, a revelation has come out in DNA which we knew about but didn't have a way to bring it up in Court. We knew the Delhi Police had tried hard to make the death about suicide or natural death, but now we're finding out that the DCP had written that it was murder. And he had written three letters. No action was taken, so my point has been proved correct."

"I believe in the next hearing, the Supreme Court will consider this and the possibility of justice for Sunanda Pushkar has increased markedly."

Earlier, documents which are now in the public domain had revealed the Sub Divisional Magistrate who 'first' inspected the Leela Palace Hotel room where she died had allegedly ordered the case to be investigated as a murder.

The magistrate made the decision after the autopsy report allegedly stated that the cause of death was poisoning and that there were blunt force and 'scuffle-mark' injuries on Sunanda Pushkar's body.

The report by former DCP BS Jaiswal was allegedly given to the Delhi Police and was also submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs. Yet, despite the cause of death being viewed as murder, the Delhi Police allegedly didn't file a case in the matter.

Sunanda Pushkar was found dead in her room 345 in the Leela Palace Hotel on January 17, 2014. A number of investigative reports by Republic TV have exposed the Delhi Police for the shortcomings in their action in the case.

Recently, on February 23, the Supreme Court had issued notice to the Delhi Police after leaving open the question of maintainability of Dr Subramanian Swamy's petition seeking a SIT-probe into Sunanda Pushkar's death.
