Her expression of strong support to Chidambaram, who has also been a home minister, came a day after the Delhi High Court refused to grant him any protection from arrest in the INX media case.

Hours after the High Court ruling, a team of CBI officials landed at Chidambaram's posh Jor Bagh residence to locate him but left after not finding the senior Congress leader there.

Chidambaram on a run?

Officials from both CBI and ED reached P. Chidambaram's residence on Tuesday evening, just hours after the Delhi High Court dismissed his plea for an anticipatory bail in the INX Media Scam, opening up the possibility of an arrest of the former Home Minister.

Chidambaram was last seen at the Supreme Court along with the Congress legal eagles- Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Kapil Sibal and Salman Khurshid at around 5 PM on Tuesday evening when the Congress senior leaders were confronted by Republic TV.

In the INX Media scam, Chidambaram had approached the High Court with a plea for an anticipatory bail in the corruption and money laundering case. However, during the arguments, both the CBI and ED had opposed the bail, on the grounds that his custodial interrogation required as the former Union Minister was being evasive during the questioning.
