Following the incident of farmer's suicide, R Rathore, the deputy leader of Opposition in Rajasthan assembly has slammed Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Deputy CM Sachin Pilot. He has said that they should be arrested.

Speaking to news agency ANI, he said:

"Farmers are committing suicide because they feel cheated by the promise of loan-waiver made by Congress government in the state. This case falls under IPC 306 that is abetment of suicide and they must be booked."

A 45-year-old farmer committed suicide at Thakri village in Rajasthan's of Sri Ganganagar district on Sunday leaving a two-page note accusing Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his government of not fulfilling its pre-poll promise of waiving bank loans. Meghwal who consumed poison died while being taken to the Sri Ganganagar district hospital. In the video, he says:

"I am killing myself, but I would like to urge the Ashok Gehlot government to take note of farmers' grievances and pay back their dues. I want to apologise to my family too, if I have done them any wrong. I hope that unity returns to this village after my death."

In his suicide note, he has blamed the Gehlot- Sachin-led Congress government for his suicide. He has said that the government should face the people and he is taking away his life so that other farmers of the village do not bear the false promises of the state government. He has also written that his funeral should not be held until and unless the state government pays the loan of the people.

A farmer protesting said: "We have demanded that the promises that the Gehlot government did. They said they will waive loans, they have not done it. A farmer killed himself in front of district collector's office 20 days ago and today also another has killed himself. Banks are pressurising us that they will take away our land if we don't pay back the loans but the government is not releasing money for loan payment."

IMPACT: After Republic's #OperationKarzMaafi Expose, PM Modi Hits Out At Congress Party Over Its Betrayal To Farmers On Loan-waivers; Says 'citizens Won't Forgive'

Republic Bharat had earlier in its exclusive Operation Karz Maafi exposed the lies peddled by Congress government in the Congress-ruled states. While one stung MLA revealed how he had waylaid farmers by pointing out the impracticality of the 10-day loan-waiver assurance given by Rahul Gandhi ahead of the elections, another MLA openly said that there was no money and that it would have to be raised via taxes or via reducing spending on state schemes. A third MLA, meanwhile, countered the first MLA's contention that nationalised banks were the impediment, even as the sting also revealed that while some farmers were being waylaid, others were having loans far greater than the stipulated Rs 2 lakh waived.
