Putin In India: Here are the historical deals signed by India and Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin's two-day visit to India carried much significance. The two countries were expected to sign number of agreements which would further enhance the already prospering relations.

On Friday, Indian and Russian delegation, led by PM Modi and Putin, inked a number of deals and agreements, which included the S-400 defence deal worth $5 billion or Rs 400 crore.

Ahead of the joint statement given by the topmost leaders of the two nations, 8 MoUs and agreements were exchanged.

1. Protocol for Consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and MEA for the period 2019-2023: Exchanged between Russia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov and External Affairs Minister of India, Sushma Swaraj

2. Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation and the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog): Exchanged between Russia's Minister of Economic Development, Maxim Oreshkin and NITI Aayog VC, Rajiv Kumar

3. Memorandum of Understanding between Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and the Federal Space Agency of Russia ‘ROSCOSMOS’ on Joint Activities in the field of Human Spaceflight Programme: Exchanged between Director of ROSCOMOS, Dmitriy Rogozin and Foreign Secretary, Vijay Gokhale

4. Memorandum of Cooperation between the Indian and Russian Railways: Exchanged between CEO-Chairman of JSC Russian Railways, Oleg Belozerov and Foreign Secretary, Vijay Gokhale

5. Action Plan for Prioritization and Implementation of Cooperation Areas in the Nuclear Field: DG, Rosatom, Alexi Likhachev and Secretary, DAE, K N Vyas

6. Memorandum of Understanding between the Russian Ministry of Transport and Indian Railways in the Development Cooperation in Transport Education: Exchanged between Russia's Ambassador to India, Nikolay Kudashev and India's Ambassador to Russia, D.B. Venkatesh Varma

7. Memorandum of Understanding between the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), of India and the Russian Small and Medium Business Corporation (RSMB), on Cooperation in the field of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises: Exchanged between Director General , Russian Small and Medium Business Corporation, Alexander Braverman and India's Ambassador to Russia, D.B. Venkatesh Varma

8. Cooperation Agreement in the Fertilizers Sector between the Russian Direct Investment Fund" ("RDIF”); PJSC Phosagro (PhosAgro) and Indian Potash Limited (IPL): Exchange between Director general of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, Kirill Dmitriev, CEO for PhosAgro, Andrey Guryev and India's Ambassador to Russia, D.B. Venkatesh Varma

During the joint statement, the confirmation of the signing of S-400 deal was not announced. But later, the historic deal between the two countries was confirmed.
